Custom Aluminum ExtrusionsExtrusion is a forming process where heated metal gets enclosed in a cavity and forced through a die opening where it takes on the profile shape of the die. Extrusions offer an efficient and cost-effective method for forming parts and components with uniform cross-sections throughout the entire workpiece.

At Superior Metal Shapes, we provide custom aluminum extrusions for a variety of industries and applications.

  • High production volumes
  • Continuous operation
  • Quality surface finish

Custom Aluminum Extrusions

Extrusion Production

At Superior Metal Shapes, we strive to make the metal extrusion process as simple as possible. Our extrusion process typically goes as follows:

  • The customer submits a quote request for a specific part type or part number.
  • We respond with a quote within 72 hours.
  • The customer submits a CAD drawing and a purchase order. A CAD drawing is required, as we do not have an in-house design team.
  • We use the CAD drawing to determine the appropriate tolerances (if not already provided), look for manufacturability issues, and make suggestions for improvement if necessary.
  • Once we finalize the production plan, we sign the purchase order and begin production.

Common Products

Common Shapes

Our team can extrude a wide variety of shapes. Here are some of the items we commonly produce:

  • Aircraft cabin interior linings
  • Automotive components
  • Door hinges
  • Hollow shapes
  • Multi-void hollow shapes
  • Lighting components
  • T-bars
  • Weapon handrails

ISO Certified

Quality Assurance

Our facility and manufacturing processes are AS9100 and ISO9001 certified, ensuring high-quality production that meets the standards of even the most stringently regulated industries. We can accommodate orders with ASTM B221 and AMSQQ-A-200 specifications.

We perform a series of stringent in-house inspections, including initial run, individual part and tolerance inspections during production, and final spot checks before shipment. We also conduct NADCAP certification inspections when relevant, and will bring in independent third-party inspectors upon request.

Materials

Materials

Our capabilities include the ability to extrude multiple grades of aluminum. The most common aluminum alloys we work with include:

  • Hard alloys (2024, 7075)
  • Soft alloys (6061, 6063)
  • Other materials upon request
